The 'You've activated my trap card!' meme originates from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. It is often associated with a demotivational image macro featuring a man intensely playing Yu-Gi-Oh cards in what appears to be a library. This image gained popularity in 'You Laugh, You Lose' forum threads around 2008. The phrase is commonly used as a humorous warning that something negative or malicious is about to happen to someone, or that a clever counter-move is about to be unleashed.
